What does SEO stand for?

SEO stands for search engine optimisation and is the process of optimising a website to appear in the search engine results pages to receive quality targeted traffic to a website.

Do I really need to think about SEO and, if I do, why do I need to think about it?

Yes, SEO can sometimes be an overlooked aspect of creating an internet presence. When looking for a product or service online more than 80% of internet users start with a search engine query.  If your website does not appear in the first page of results you are missing out on a large percentage of potential customers.

Does this mean that if I employ a company who are experts at doing SEO that I can be guaranteed that my website will appear on the first page of search results?

No SEO company can guarantee first page positions and you should be wary of any company that makes this claim.  Search engine algorithms are constantly evolving and your ranking is likely to fluctuate alongside them.  A good SEO company will explain this, and keep up to date with advances in the industry giving you the best possible chance at a high ranking.

How will SEO benefit my website?

SEO will benefit your website by putting your business in direct contact with people who are actively seeking your products or services. This will lead to targeted traffic and increased sales.

How will SEO benefit my business?

SEO will benefit your business by driving higher quantities of targeted traffic to your website which will increase your online sales. This can also help increase your brand awareness on the internet. A recent survey discovered that 86% percent of all people who visit electronics stores visited their website first.

How often should I look at SEO, every month or every year?

SEO should be looked at on a continual basis. That is why it’s essential to employ an SEO company to do this on your behalf, if you were to stop your SEO you would be overtaken by your competition in no time. If you require further information, or would like to find out more about search engine optimisation for your website, please contact Moovin On Up on this link SEO services or contact Gary on 0870 224 2260.

Are there different types of SEO?

There are two main types of SEO; onsite SEO and offsite SEO. Your site has to be optimised for both if it is to achieve the best results in the search engines.

What is the difference between onsite and offsite SEO?

Onsite SEO refers to making sure your web pages are relevant to search engines for your selected keyphrases. This involves optimising the content and code on your website to make each page as relevant to the search term you are optimising for as possible.
Offsite SEO mostly refers to obtaining links to your website. Links are like votes vouching for the quality of a website and Google in particular places a lot of weight on how many links each webpage has when returning results.

Do the ‘rules’ for SEO change and, if they do, who decides what those changes are?

The rules of SEO are always in a state of change to keep in line with developing search technologies. The rules change when the search engines themselves make changes to the way they return pages. A good search engine optimisation company can prepare your website for any future changes.

Does SEO only work on Internet Explorer?

Internet Explorer is a browser and browsers do not directly affect SEO.

OK, so now I understand the difference between browsers and search engines, do you have to do different SEO for each search engine?

Each search engine places different priorities on the way they return pages. However most of the ethical techniques will work on most search engines.

I’ve been told that Google AdWords is very good for SEO.  Would you recommend that I pay for AdWords?

Google AdWords will not affect SEO at all.  As search engine optimisation can take 3-6 months to take affect it can be a good idea to use Google AdWords in the short term to promote your website. Your budget can then be put back into SEO when the search engine optimisation begins to take effect.

Why do I need to have a company who specialises in SEO do this for me?  Can’t I do it myself?

It is always best to let the professionals handle your SEO campaign as they will be able to use their experience to get the best results from your budget. If you were to handle your SEO campaign yourself you may unintentionally do something that can get your website banned from the search engines.

SEO sounds complicated and expensive; can I do SEO on a budget?

SEO can be tailored for all kind of budgets.

What contribution do I have to make to getting SEO for my website?

Supplying potential keyphrases is one of the most important contributions your business should make to your SEO campaign.  The SEO Company can then do a keyphrase analysis to determine the best target keyphrases to use to promote your website in the search engines.  There are many other things that you, the business owner, can do to help with your website’s SEO. One main thing would be to regularly add unique interesting content to your website that your website visitors will find interesting.
